Privacy Policy — Checkon
Last updated: June 3, 2026
Checkon is designed with privacy in mind. Most features work directly on your device, and we aim to be clear about what data is used and why.
1) On-Device Data
Checkon stores your tasks, checklists, notes, attachments, and settings locally on your device.
We do not operate our own servers to store your personal content. Your data remains under your control.
2) iCloud Sync & Collaboration
Checkon may optionally use iCloud, CloudKit, iCloud backup, and collaboration features.
When enabled, Apple’s iCloud and CloudKit services securely handle this data under your Apple ID. Synced or shared content may include checklist, task, folder, note, reminder, collaboration invite, and related app metadata needed to keep your devices or collaborators up to date.
Checkon does not have access to your Apple ID credentials and does not operate its own sync server.
3) Location Services
Checkon may use location services for location-based features, such as resetting or triggering checklists when you arrive at or leave a specific place.
Location data is used only for app functionality. It is not sold or shared with Meta.
4) Calendar, Contacts & Health
If you enable calendar features, Checkon may create, update, or remove Apple Calendar events for scheduled checklists or tasks.
If you enable collaboration features, Checkon may use Contacts on your device to show familiar names for collaborators.
If you connect tasks to Apple Health, Checkon may read selected Health data such as steps, workouts, active energy, sleep, and medication doses, and may write selected Health data such as water intake or nutrition when you complete connected tasks.
Health data is used only for features you enable. It is not used for advertising, sold, or shared with Meta.
5) Background Activity
Background app refresh may be used to keep checklist status up to date, refresh reminders, and ensure time-based or location-based logic works reliably.
6) Microphone
If you choose to record an audio note, Checkon will request microphone permission.
Audio recordings are created only when you explicitly start recording and are stored on your device, and in iCloud only if you enable iCloud sync.
7) Photos & Camera
Checkon may request access to your Photo Library to select a profile image or attach photos to notes.
Checkon may request access to your Camera to capture a photo for notes or profiles.
Checkon does not scan your photo library. Only the images you explicitly choose are used.
8) Notifications
Checkon uses notifications to remind you about tasks, checklists, scheduled reminders, and important updates.
You can change or disable notifications at any time in your device settings.
9) Analytics, Ads Measurement & Improvements
Checkon may use Apple-provided diagnostic information, such as crash reports and performance data, to improve stability and reliability.
Checkon also uses Meta App Events to measure app installs, app launches, free trials, subscriptions, purchases, and related ad campaign performance for Facebook and Instagram ads.
Meta App Events may receive limited event information, device or app identifiers, device and app information, timestamps, purchase history, product interaction, and event details needed for analytics, attribution, and advertising measurement.
These events do not include your checklist content, task content, notes, Health data, precise location, contacts, calendar events, photos, or audio recordings.
10) Tracking
Checkon does not show third-party ads inside the app.
Because Checkon uses Meta App Events for Facebook and Instagram ad measurement, some event or device information may be processed by Meta for advertising attribution and measurement. This may be considered tracking under App Store privacy rules if Meta links app event data with data from other apps, websites, or Meta services.
Checkon requests App Tracking Transparency permission before enabling Meta tracking-related app events or advertiser ID collection.
If you do not allow tracking, Checkon keeps Meta advertiser ID collection disabled and does not send tracking-related Meta app events.
11) Third-Party Services
Checkon relies primarily on Apple system services, including iCloud, CloudKit, notifications, background tasks, StoreKit, Calendar, Contacts, HealthKit, and related Apple frameworks.
Checkon also uses Meta App Events for app install attribution, analytics, and ad campaign measurement.
12) Subscriptions & Purchases
If you subscribe to Checkon Pro or make an in-app purchase, purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store.
Checkon does not collect or store your payment information. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID or App Store subscription settings.
13) Your Choices & Control
You can review and change permissions at any time in iOS Settings, including:
Location
Calendar
Contacts
Health
Microphone
Photos
Camera
Notifications
App Tracking Transparency
You can delete local app data by removing the app. If iCloud sync is enabled, you may also disable iCloud for Checkon in system settings.
